FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

RIGHTS & OWNERSHIP

• If I use a ghostwriter to write my children’s story, do I own full rights to it?
Yes, 100%. Once the project is paid for in full, all intellectual property rights transfer to you. You own the copyright, keep all royalties, and can publish it under your own name.

• If I hire you to rewrite my story, do I have a say in what you write and do I own full rights?
Absolutely to both. This is your story. The rewrite process is highly collaborative, and no major changes to your plot, characters, or message are made without your approval. And you own 100% of the rights.

PROCESS & EXPECTATIONS

• What happens if I don’t like the story you ghostwrote or rewrote for me?
Every project is highly collaborative. I send portions of the draft as I write and revise as we go based on your feedback. The story will be aligned with your vision.

• What happens after you ghostwrite or rewrite my story?
Once you approve the final draft, the completed manuscript file is delivered to you. From there, the next steps are typically illustrations (for picture books and chapter books), followed by pre-publication proofreading and publishing.

• Why do I need a final, pre-publication proofreader if I hired a ghostwriter/rewriter?
A writer is deeply embedded in the creative plotting and phrasing. A separate, fresh set of eyes is always required for a final proofread to catch tiny formatting errors, typos, or software glitches before the book goes to print.

For a clearer understanding of why this is so important, please read Why Your Professional Writer Should Not Be Your Final Proofreader.

SERVICES DEFINED

• What does a rewriter (book doctor) do?
A rewriter takes your existing draft, concept, or notes and polishes the rhythm, pacing, character arcs, and vocabulary. The goal is to elevate your raw material into a market-ready manuscript while keeping your core message intact.

• What is your Publishing Readiness Review?
Many first-time authors rush into publishing. This review is designed to give you expert feedback on your manuscript and clear guidance on what to do next, so you can move forward with confidence.

Before you invest time, money, and energy into publishing, make sure your manuscript—and your plan—are truly ready.

For more details go to Publishing Readiness Review.

COACHING & QUALITY

• Can I actually write a book with your coaching programs?
Yes. The coaching programs are designed to provide guidance, accountability, manuscript feedback, and writing support throughout the scheduled timeframe.

Because every manuscript and writer is different, completion of a manuscript by the end of the program is not guaranteed. Outcomes and progress vary based on participation, writing skill level, timeliness, revision needs, and implementation of coaching feedback.

• How do I know if my children’s manuscript is good?
Children’s literature has strict, industry-specific standards for word counts, vocabulary levels, age appropriateness, and visual pacing. The best way to objectively measure whether a story hits those marks is a professional evaluation or feedback from a targeted critique group.

You can learn more at A Children’s Manuscript Review.

SCAM ALERT

There are ghosting sites that are stealing the profiles of reputable ghostwriters and putting them on their sites. MY SERVICES ARE ONLY OFFERED HERE. If you see my profile on another site stating I work for them, they’re scammers.
