Are You Determined to Be a Writer?

Cambridge Dictionary defines determination as “the ability to continue trying to do something, although it’s very difficult.”

Macmillan Dictionary defines it as, “the refusal to let anything prevent you from doing want you have decided to do.”

It’s really all about attitude.

There are so many quotes about attitude:

“Your attitude, not your aptitude, will determine your altitude. ~ Zig Ziglar

“Whether you think you can or you can’t, you’re right.” ~ Henry Ford

“People do not lack strength, they lack will.” ~ Victor Hugo

“A determined soul will do more with a rusty monkey wrench than a loafer will accomplish with all the tools in a machine shop.” ~ Robert Hughes

“If your determination is fixed, I do not counsel you to despair. Few things are impossible to diligence and skill. Great works are performed not by strength, but perseverance.” ~ Samuel Johnson

Putting this in terms of writing:

“A determined person will do more with a pen and paper than a lazy person will accomplish with a personal computer.” ~ Catherine Pulsifer

So, if you’ve been wanting to learn to write, jump in. Take online courses. Take some college courses. Read, read, read. Do whatever it takes to learn how to write.
